Department Overview:
The Department of Mechanical Engineering was introduced in the year of Independence 1947. Since then our department has produced four generations of people who have served in their highest capacity in and around the country. The Department has well equipped laboratories with vintage equipment/machineries as well as modern ones, which are being utilized by the students for project work as well as for developing IRG.
Vision:
To develop the department of Mechanical Engineering as the Centre of excellence in advance technology by fostering innovation, research and academic eminence in producing globally competent, acclaimed and industry ready professionals.
Missions:
- M1: To provide outcome based quality education in Mechanical Engineering with strong fundamental and problem solving skills.
- M2: To integrate emerging technologies and advanced laboratories for innovation and experimental learning.
- M3: To enhance industry interaction, employability and entrepreneurial capabilities to create responsible professionals with leadership and lifelong learning abilities.
Program Educational Objectives (PEOs):
- PEO1: To apply fundamental knowledge of Mechanical Engineering to solve real world Engineering problems effectively and ethically
- PEO2: To adapt emerging technologies, modern engineering tools and advanced laboratory practices for innovation, research and higher study.
- PEO3: To demonstrate professional competence, leadership qualities, teamwork, communication skill and ethical values in industrial and societal environments.
- PEO4: To engage the students in lifelong learning, higher education, entrepreneurship, and continuous professional development to meet global engineering challenges.

- PO1: Basic knowledge-An ability to apply knowledge of basic mathematics and science to solve the engineering problems
- PO2: Discipline knowledge: An ability to apply mechanical discipline - specific knowledge to solve core and/or applied engineering problems
- PO3: Problem analysis:Analyze well defined engineering problem using codified standard method.
- PO4: Design/ development of solutions:Design solutions for well-defined technical problems and assist with the design of systems components or processes to meet specified needs
- PO5: Engineering tools and experiments: An ability to apply modern engineering tools and appropriate technical skills to conduct test and measurements
